Orlando Speedworld website assessment for 2009.
Both Home and News buttons have basically the same stories. Cut one of the links out. You do not need two. The news on the sidebar has a race report. The one on top does not! The competition page has nothing in it “never has that I can recall”. The results page looks like a two year old created the page. It is not uniform. Maybe you need to update your typing skills!! The point’s page looks ok, however you should put them in a table .It would look more appealing if it were. Track Rental has been coming since you created the page. Marketing info the same as track rental!!!! POSTED SOON, MORE TO COME, MARKETING PACKAGES TO COME, TRACK SPONSORS TO COME!! Give me a break here… Rusty Marcus as G.M in Hospitality section? Corporate Hospitality, Birthday parties, Central Fl car clubs??? WTF?? Employment section: You guys need to put HELP WANTED “WEB DEVELOPER” willing to create a nice website for fascar. Photo section I have seen a guy with a dog all year!!! Why do you need two buttons for the photos? Where are the drivers Bio’s. I think you should let Dave put the pics and bios on the page. At least he did a better job. Overall the page is crapy!!!! Give it up this year and pass the torch to someone that has a clue!!!!

Aah... and so begins another year...
FYI (for the tenth time)... I did not design the Page (as you call it, but it is actually a 'Site' that contains 'Pages')...
Jane Smith has been handling the Results / Points and News since last year, so apparently that '2 year old' that you are speaking of is the same person that you bitched last year SHOULD be handling the whole thing...
BTW... When you click on the Competition Link... it brings up Sub-Links to the information... I know it gets confusing at that point. And as for the guy with the Dog... that is Cover for that particular album, you actually have to open the album to view the photos... It's kind of like reading a book... it doesn't magically open itself, you actually have to turn the pages!
The reason for 2 photo pages is that the actual 'developers' (which AGAIN, was NOT me) started using a new Photo Album app at mid-season last year... One that would allow for the newest photos to appear first and would NOT allow people to download pics... They never removed the old link so that Jim Jones would not have to re-upload all the previous Photos.
I suppose as typical this FASCAR gripe will never see the 'Complainer's Corner', but rather stayed perched prominently in the main forum!

When have you EVER bitched about FASCAR and their sites that it wasn't directed at me... not feeling guilty... actually laughing that you continue to hide behind a screen name and then publicly criticize others...
Doesn't speak to highly of your character!

My phone number and email links have appeared on this message board countless times over the past 3 years... I have NEVER concealed my identity from ANYONE...
If you have a question for me... you know how to reach me!
I personally do not wish to validate childish and cowardly behavior by extending any effort on my part to call you.

that is true.
regardless of the merits ( or lack thereof ) of backdoor's complaints, this post is in the wrong forum. time for a mod to exercise his powers and move it.

Wow your serious love affair for Mark never ceases to amaze me. You just can't seem to figure out that Palm Tree is the one that has completely screwed everything up, and are the ones who need to be fired. I guess your just another person who can't see that Mark has gone out of his way to make the website look decent and half way usable.
BTW nice phone number, Was it the first one on your speed dial list?
I cant resist, I am amazed that you even respond. This guy is a big time Sh!! starter/stirrer trying to have fun at your expense. His Obama post didnt really get anyone going probably becasue we are all worn out on that one, so he started something that he knows will strike a nerve.
Yes, I did Orlando's site and I did it according to how Mark told me to do it with the tables. Sorry you didn't like it but I did my best and tried to keep it as up-to-date as possible. Now it is all in Mark's lap and I wish him the best on it. But I am sorry it was not up to your standard but I did try hard.

To give everyone a true picture of what happened last year... The new websites for OSW, NSS and FASCAR were part of a "marketing" package thru Palm Tree Computers... The actual design of the sites had nothing to do with PTC owner Paul Rosarius... Paul is a great guy and a big supporter of racing... The websites were put together by one of the PTC techs and are what is commonly referred to as a "website in a box." The previous websites were designed by Jack Smith of KARNAC.com... Therin lies one problem... A website designed by a computer geek who has never probably seen an auto race vs. a website designed by a guy who lives, breathes and eats racing...
Kudos go out to Mark Keeler for actually making the new sites actually worth looking at...
Unfortunately a lot of tracks have gone to this type of generic website which can pretty much be operated by someone with general computer knowledge... They look generic, act generic and are pretty much boring... The one thing I hate are the photo galleries... It's easy to post photos, but how many sites do you see that have no photo captions, just some mumbo-jumbo numbers etc.... Nice picture, I wonder who the driver is??
The old FASCAR websites still exist and if I were running things I'd go back to using them... I had a great time doing the photo galleries and appreciated all the comments from the race teams... Unfortunately I don't own a camera right now (the last one I used was borrowed from AB195) and can't afford to buy anything worthy of doing action photography.
Anyway, give Mark a break... he's doing the best he can with what he's got...

Yeah, I agree 100%. backdoorknobbob or what ever you call yourself, step out and idenify yourself bozo. I see a lot of incrimination but not much else. The people that take care of these boards in most cases work for little or no pay, and for what? So some bozo, I like that word, sit on their sleezie butt and complain. Instead of complaining and griping, offer to help. Now I'd applaud that.
For what its worth. Bob.....And not back door...............
Dave,
I don't know if this will help but my oldest son got a great digital in perfect condition on craigslist for $50.00. The owner upgraded and just wanted to sell it. Since money is tight for everyone, you might want to look there when you have some spare change. It came with everything, all the books it needed and even a spare memory card. But it was well worth the $50.00.
When FASCAR had the old sites, I ran all of them - 3 tracks and 4 tours. It is not easy and Mark does his best. I was able to help him with Orlando and put up the results, points, and news and hopefully that did help him. Running any website takes time which is something people don't seem to understand. Just like anything else in life, if you want to do it right, it takes time and Mark has done a great job with what he was handed last year.
Anyway Dave, I will watch out for a cheap camera for you if you want me to. Like I said, Danny's was only $50.00 and it is a really good one.
See ya Saturday,
Jane

Why not get someone that has time? You cant expect to get things done if you are doing to many chores at one time!! Thats just CS which I see al
ot of people on here do not have!!!!
SOOOo tell me, you guys think the site is all great?? If so give me some for my pipe!!!
My goodness, I am glad I am not in your mood right now. Maybe you should call Mark and offer to help him if you think you can do it better or faster than Mark. I understand if you don't like the site but don't kill the person who works on it because that is not his fault.
I can tell you honestly when we had Winter Nationals at Orlando and the day was over and everyone had gone home, I was still there putting up the results for the fans to see. It takes alot of time to do them but I stayed because I knew alot of people back home wanted to see them. I found the time and so does Mark. You can't just cut, copy and paste them on this site and it takes time to do them.
But if you hate it so much, offer to help. It is not rocket science but it does take time to do it. And besides, there are far more better things to complain about in today's world than a racing website not to your satisfaction. Like my son-in-law having to go back to Iraq for another six months when he has already been there for six months - that is a complaint!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
See ya and call Mark, I am sure he would love some help.

I am here to do something some people do not want to do. I would like to offer to help with the Fascar websites. As a student, I am going for a degree in web design and administration. I also have a strong love of racing and would love to make my services available. I would like to be able to call this a sort of internship to help me get experience for the job market. I have a resume available and can provide a samples of work. Just send me a message if you guys would like the help. Message for phone number.
